Good Sunday Morning:
Below is a link to one of my favorite Jerry interviews. It is from the year before his departure and covers a tremendous amount of territory. It helps to eliminate some of the myth and illusion surrounding Jerry; his persona drips off of each page. http://www.levity.com/mavericks/garcia.htm
(Source: "Voices from the Edge - Internet Edition" @1995-2007)

Jerry references "Terence McKenna." The following text may provides some insight into Robert Hunter for you: http://www.hunterarchive.com/files/OrfeoFiles/Orfeo.html
(Orfeo: A Dialog Between Robert Hunter and Terence McKenna @1996-2007)

I hope you find some insight and value in one or both of the above; all the best --- AshesRising

Great interview, agreed. I also love the Grateful Dawg documentary film, really shows Jerry as the man, hanging out with friends jamming and bullshitting. Love it. Some good musical excerpts: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Ase4nOjvQ0 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xzp4_KorWcQ

In a way, but I don't feel like I'm guiding anybody. I feel like I'm sort of stumbling along and a lot of people are watching me or stumbling with me or allowing me to stumble for them. I don't feel like, here we are, I'm the guide and come on you guys, follow me. I do that, but I don't feel that I'm particularly better at it than anybody else.

For example, here's something that used to happen all the time. The band would check into a hotel. We'd get our room-key and then we'd go to the elevator. Well, a lot of times we didn't have a clue where the elevator was. So, what used to happen was that everybody would follow me, thinking that I would know. I'd be walking around thinking why the fuck is everybody following me?

Thanks Ashes! Great stuff...

Thank you for that link, Ashes.

Rebecca: Do you think there is a timeless quality about your music that appeals to people?
Jerry: I'd like to believe there's something like that, but I have no idea, really.

It' amazing for me, because I tend to call their music timeless...

Have a good sunday, it's bed time for me!
